Freedom of expression through Domains

11/13/2024

I recently bought a domain. Chances are that if you found a way onto this site, you likely used starrymic.xyz as your way to get here.

This purchase started out as a way to learn more about web development and give myself a way to publicise my projects to the wider internet. I'm by no means a web developer, in fact I really hate doing anything outside of HTML and CSS. If you read the Javascript is hell post, then you know how I feel about clientside coding with JS. I'm a desktop developer first who loves himself some nice bracketed C# code, and hates the weirdly untyped language of JS.

Most of what I'm going to use this domain for is hosting little APIs and tools for my streams. I've already had quite a number of ideas for what I want to do with the Starrymic.xyz domain, but for now it mostly redirects to this Neocities page. Eventually I will move this to its own server off of Neocities, but I don't have the money or infrastructure to do so yet. Plus with my lack of knowledge using serverside applications it means I have a lot of learning to do. However, I love myself a challenge, so I'm likely to spend many hours from here on tinkering with little projects on tiny servers.

Hopefully if I'm able to move this blog to its own server I can do some cool stuff with it, but for right now I'm stuck with clientside JS.

So what have you done with it so far, Starry?

I'm glad you asked! Right now, it is acting like a very simple redirect service as I don't have anything to use it for. I've got plans to get a server here in the next day or two, but for now each subdomain is just a redirect

The redirects are as follows...

I'll likely compress all these subdomains into a simple link list subdomain soon, since looking at it like this now reveals that this is a bit much...

That's all folks!

As always, I hope you're doing well.

Please take some time to get some sun on your skin, even if only for 5 to 10 minutes. Spending even a little bit of time outdoors each day is proven to help with your mental health and general wellbeing. I've been going outside a lot more to take care of my grandfather's dog recently, and it's been quite lovely. Taking even a little time to be outside has helped immensely with my overall mood, especially since I've been going through some anxieties as of late.

Please do take care! I'll see you next time! <3
