This post may not be the most exciting or happy this time around. I've just been in a slump right now with personal projects and want to get this off my chest and out into the wild for others to learn from.
I've got 2-3 projects I'm working on at the moment. The first is a game for the Road Trip Game Jam which is a remake of Desert Bus. It's not a complex project, but one that has started to drag on a bit. The other project is "FUn Zip", a game-ified zipping program where you need to drag your files into the Zip Zone for them to be added into the final zip, or risk those files being deleted.
Both projects are quite simple and not hard to make, but I've not had much motivation to work on them right now. I've been working on them on and off for a couple weeks now, taking little shots at the projects when I have free time and motivation, but lately I've been lacking that.
Now I'm absolutely not lacking free time. I'm a college student with a light workload this semester so it's not like I'm busy with work or anything. It's just motivation that I lack.
This happens a lot with my projects. I get started with the passion of a thousand burning suns, then I start hitting brick walls over and over until I get burnt out on the project and have to make a choice between continuing or trashing the project for my own health. I'm not happy with this cycle at all and I do think I have some potential solutions to this.
I just need to find some way to implement these solutions into how I work on my programming projects.
I hope y'all are doing well! Take care of yourself! I'll see you next time! <3
